Private Pilot Licence | PPL

This is the second step into the exciting world of aviation. Imagine the feeling of independence when you can fly and navigate your own aircraft anywhere in Australia for leisure or business and carry up to 5 passengers! Obtaining your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) with Soar Advanced Flight Training* will give you that freedom. 

Once you have successfully gained your Recreational Pilot Licence (Step 1) and are comfortable with pilot the aircraft by yourself, you can look into taking passengers and flying a variety of larger aircrafts in training towards Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and fly anywhere in Australia (Step 2). This part of the training with be conducted on our Vixxen A32, Aquila or a similar aircraft of your choice.

Learning Outcomes

Allows students to act as Pilot in Command with up to 5 passengers on board and fly anywhere in Australia. This course meets all requirements as set by Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

Step 1 | Hold a current Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL)

Apply for an ASIC

Step 2 | Flight Training towards your Private Pilot Licence (PPL)

Complete a further 20-30 hours of flight training on a VH registered aircraft. At this stage you will add to your existing knowledge of how to fly the aircraft and now build skills on how to navigate the aircraft from point to point. You are required to complete at least 5 hours of solo cross country navigation. Once your instructor is confident with your ability you will need to demonstrate all that you have learnt in a flight test with a CASA approved Testing Officer, to earn your Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

  • Full time | 3 Months
  • Part time | 6 Months or flexible as required *Students are recommended to fly at least once a week, to avoid remedial training.

Step 3 | Theory

You must attend a compulsory weekend or evening Theory Course, where you will cover all the required material to prepare you for sitting your PPL Theory Exam. Modules will cover Meteorology, Navigation, Air Law and Performance. This exam will be held in a local assessment centre. For more information on the theory course, click here.

This allows you to be more flexible with your payments, all that is required during enrollment is a $500 deposit into your Flying Account, from there you can simply pay for each lesson as you go.
